There is no separate fast track driving test. Everybody sits the same test with the same examiners, and you cannot pay the DVSA to jump the queue. What you can do is get an earlier date at the centre you want, and the quickest way is to book with us. Tell us your centre and the months that suit you, and we find you a test fast.
What people mean by a fast track driving test
When learners search for a fast track test they usually want one of two things:
- An earlier test date than the one the booking system first offers them.
- A quick course that takes them from lessons to test in a short time, often called an intensive or crash course.
Both are about speed, but neither changes the test itself. The route, the examiner and the marking are exactly the same as for anyone else.
Is there an official fast track test?
No. The DVSA does not sell a faster test, a priority place or a paid queue. There is no waiting list to join either. Every test date sits in the same booking system, and it goes to whoever takes it first.
The gap between the advertised wait and what half of learners actually waited is the real fast track. Those learners did not use a special scheme. They took an earlier date that came free when somebody else moved or cancelled.

What about fast track driving courses?
Intensive courses pack your lessons into a few days or weeks. They can suit learners who pick things up quickly or need to pass by a set time. A quick course does not make the test itself any quicker to get, though. The test still comes from the same booking system, so it is worth sorting your test date at the same time as your lessons.
Be ready for an early date
A fast test only helps if you can pass it. If you fail, you have to wait at least 10 working days before you can sit another. Ask your instructor honestly whether you are ready, and use the time before your test for mock tests on local routes.
The rules once you have a test
- You can only hold one driving test at a time. If you already have one booked, you don't need to cancel it. We can look for an earlier date and move it for you.
- A car test can be changed twice.
- Changing or cancelling without losing the fee needs 10 full working days' notice.
