Islay's driving tests start from the council offices on Jamieson Street in Bowmore. It's one of the smallest centres in the country, so small that no figures are published for it, and the examiner meets you at your car as there are no facilities. Learners come from Bowmore, Port Ellen, Port Charlotte, Bridgend, Port Askaig, Portnahaven and from Jura.
It's booked as Islay Island. The nearest other centres are on the mainland, at Campbeltown and Lochgilphead, and need the ferry from Port Askaig or Port Ellen.
